Wheelchairs to 'Eua

On November 27, 2014 we headed to a little island off of Tongatapu. We flew on a very small plane, the flight was only seven minutes.  In fact it is reputedly the world's shortest commercial airline flight. 'Eua is the oldest island in the Kingdom of Tonga.  It actually has a mountain, the Kingdom's best hiking trails, and one of the Pacific's largest underwater caverns.  It is lit naturally, illuminating a huge amphitheatre at a depth of almost 30 meters.   The island is very small and very country.  Here on 'Eua we where to deliver six wheel chairs, which came by ferry, to the people in need.  Due to the plane schedule we had to stay over night.  Charmain was a little worried about where we were going to be staying, but on to a new adventure. Following are some of the recipients of the wheelchairs that we delivered in 'Eua.

This young man was an athlete and had some problems with the muscles in his legs and the doctors here gave him the wrong medications, which made it so his legs will not work at all.  He is married with 5 children.  He was so happy to receive something that he can at least get around in .  His legs and feet were in very bad shape.

This lady is 94 years old and her husband standing next to her is 96 years old.  They were amazing! She was quite the character as well, very funny!

This elderly man lives alone. His home, inside and out was very clean, but very humble. With him is the Stake President, Bishop, the other man was our escort around the island.
