Closing Ceremony of First Project

This project was for a Government Primary School in Veitongo.  They needed new tile on the class room floors.  We were able to get enough supplies to tile all seven class rooms.  The students were so excited about the new floors, they did not want to sit on the benches but on the new floors instead.  The community worked together, members and non-members to get the floors all tiled as school was already started.  They did all seven rooms in about 4-5 days.  They are an amazing community.  The way they pull together for the benefit of all is amazing. Following are some pictures of the floors before and after, as well as the closing ceremony.
This is what all the floors looked like before they were tiled. Their linoleum is like heavy construction paper!

Here is the beginning of the tiling. They work together so fast, it was amazing.

Here is one of the rooms completed.  It look so nice and clean!  It will be much easier for them to keep clean as well!

By using tile they will not have the expense of replacing the linoleum every year as they have done in the past.

This is in front of some of the classrooms with all the children getting seated for the closing ceremony. They opened the ceremony with a wonderful Tongan song.

This is Bishop Huni.  He was our "Project Champion"!  When we do a project we are to look for a champion in every project.  He was conducting the ceremony with 1st counselor of the Stake President presiding.  Also in attendance was the the PTA President, Tu'i Uata the Stake Public Affairs rep from the stake and a representative from the Ministry of Education.

During the ceremony they presented us with this plaque.  Following the ceremony we had a picture take with this group.  From left to right is the PTA President, Loluhama Tupoumalohi, Ana Ika our Supervisor, Elder and Sister Murdock, President Katilimoni Havea 1st counselor of Viani Stake, Bishop Huni, and the principal of the school.
