In this project we were able to renovate 4 large classrooms by tiling, new windows, new doors, and paint. We also were able to provide for them a new computer, printer, and copier, as well as a lawn mower for their grounds. In this project we have instructed the Liahona students to help the Atele students do the painting on these classrooms in hopes this would bridge the gaps that are due to rivalry between the two schools. We hope that you enjoy the pictures of this project.

Elder Murdock is walking to the classrooms we are going to renovate. |
This is one of the classrooms. You can see that they need tile and that some of the window panes are broke. |
This is part of the student body. In this school there are 850 students, all boys. In the back ground you see some tents being set up. These will be used for classrooms when there is a shortage of space. |
Ana is inspecting some of the delivery, these are the new doors. |
Behind Ana is the stack of new tile for the four classrooms. |
They have started to do the tile in this room. |
More tile. |
This room has been completely tiled. |
As well as this room. |
Here the students are scraping getting ready for the painting. |
Here are more students working and preparing the walls for painting. |
More preparation work. We wonder how many of Marsh Valley students would be asked to do this in their own school? |
Here the Liahona Students have come to work alongside the Atele Students. Watching over the students is the Principal from Liahona High School. |
Here is another group working together. |
These young men are sifting sand to make dust for the mortar for the tiles they are laying. |
Here are some more Liahona Students painting the grey on the school. |
These students are painting the white. |
So much work to do to be ready for the Handover for the next day. |
Here a group of students are getting ready to put up a big tent for the ceremony tomorrow. It was amazing to watch how they worked together to put up this tent. |
And here it is up and just doing the final tie down. |
We are waiting to start the Handover Ceremony with all the dignitaries here. |
This is just part of the 850 students in this school at the Handover Ceremony. They entertained us with their beautiful singing voices! |
Here Garrick and Ana are presenting to the Ministry of Education the computer, printer, copier, lawn mower, besides the renovation of the 4 large classrooms. |
This is part of the group in attendance. The students in the picture are from Atele and Liahona High School. Hopefully we have mended some bridges between these two schools. |
Garrick Parr is presenting the new class rooms to the Ministry of Education and Folau, Superintendent of LDS Schools. |
From the right to left, Principal of Atele, Ministry of Education, Folau, Garrick Parr and Ana are inspecting one of the new class rooms - new tile, new windows, new doors, and new paint. |
At the end of the Ceremony, the Principal of Liahona ask who had their CTR ring that we had handed out to them. One student raised his hand with the CTR ring on. We hope that there were many more, but just to shy to show it to us. We were very proud of this young man that he is "Standing for the Right" by "Choosing the Right"!
"Some are inclined toward formal university training, and some are inclined toward practical vocational training. We feel that our people should receive that kind of training which is most consistent with their interests and talents. Whether it be in the professions, the arts, or the vocations; whether it be university or vocational training, we applaud and encourage it."
