Mothers' Day Celebration

We started with a ward Relief Society dinner on Friday night.  They had a fun little program and very nice feast for us to eat.  It was a very nice evening.  On Saturday we had a Mothers' Day Hot Dog Roast at the beach.  We went to a resort called Otauhaka.  It started out a little rainy, but the resort had a covered pavilion for us to set up tables in.  It was a lovely afternoon.  Some played volleyball, while others played some frisbee game, and others just sat and had a good visit.  Elder Murdock and Sister Murdock had to leave early as we had a dinner meeting at a very nice restaurant called the Black Pearl.  The owner is the President of the Dialysis Foundation here in Tonga.  This place is his and he told us that it had the best steak on the island.  He was right, rib eye steak from the U.S. and lobster fresh from the sea.  It was the best meal that we have had since we came to Tonga.  I think he is wining and dining us to encourage us to help with his dialysis project.  Following are some pictures of our activities.

This was the Relief Society Mothers Day Dinner for the Liahona 2nd Ward.

This Elder Beckstrand and Elder Dassler playing the frisbie game.

Here is a group playing volleyball.  They still move pretty good for old people!

This is our Mother's Day Hot Dog Feast.  There was some yummy food!

We had a wonderful day together, eating and visiting, and playing games!

This was the rib eye steak and lobster that Elder Murdock and Sister Murdock had at their dinner meeting,  It was so good, we thought we were back in the states for a minute!

This was our dessert, fresh chopped fruit and ice cream - very refreshing!

Sister Moon made these for all the Mothers and brought them around to us on Sunday.  She is always doing things like this for us.  She is the best district leader!
"Motherhood is near to divinity.  It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind.   It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels."    Heber J. Grant
